Trivia: What is the best pump in the world that’s located inside our bodies?

Answer: The heart

The heart is the most efficient pump in the world. It works all our lives, non-stop. It performs more than 36 million beats in a lifetime, and 100 thousand kilometers of blood vessels travel. If we lay out these paths, they would be 12 times around Earth’s equator.

The heart has 2 chambers and 2 ascents. The human heart is divided into a right side and a left side, with each side consisting of a room and above it (the atrium).

The right side receives deoxygenated blood from the body through the vena cava superior (the superior vena cava), which returns oxygen-depleted blood to the heart.

The left side of the heart receives oxygen-rich blood from the lungs through the pulmonary artery (the pulmonary artery), which brings it to the lungs for purification and then returns it to the heart into two small vessels, one called the left atrium (left atrium) and another that passes through what is called tricuspid valve right (Tricuspid Valve).

The left side of the heart then pumps blood into the aorta (the aorta), where it is sent to all parts of the body through many blood vessels, veins, and arteries.

The heart also launches substances that the body needs to live and grow, nourishing the body, and especially oxygen, which is very important to us. Blood carries carbon dioxide, water, and nitrogen among other things.

If not taken care of, our heart may stop beating, so we must take care of it. A healthy heart is about the size of our fist and weighs approximately 300 grams.

Heart disease is the number 1 killer of men and women in the United States, taking more lives than all forms of cancers combined. The causes are smoking, lack of physical activity, high cholesterol, obesity, hypertension, and diabetes.

Our blood constantly moves through our body 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days per year. Our heart is always working for us without rest. We should try to live long enough to hear it beat at least 100 thousand kilometers in its lifetime! This can be achieved by being physically active, eating a healthy diet, and not smoking.
